SYNTHESIS OF MONOMERS AND POLYMERS BY CHEMICAL AND PHOTOCHEMICAL METHODS. MATERIALS FOR ECO- AND BIO-APPLICATIONS

 

The general topic includes rational design based on the organic chemistry methods of new monomers and polymers with high functionality and their applications in eco-technologies, such as environmental protection, energy storage and health.

  • Engineering of polymeric materials through chemical reactions performed on polymers: oxidation, grafting of alkyl chains, esterification, etherification, etc., in order to create the base (matrix) necessary for subsequent applications. Chemical reactions for the preparation of new monomers
  • Functionalization of nanostructures (carbon nanotubes, metal nanoparticles and metal oxides) embeded in various polymeric matrices in order to improve the compatibility between the components, providing superior physical properties
  • A new approach for the preparation of materials for electric cells, especially new types of proton-conducting membranes, based on natural polymers doped with a selected range of heterocycles
  • Synthesis of polyurethanes incorporating bio-components having hyperamified nanoscopic structures, as an ideal matrix for various natural materials (natural fibers, nano-clays, talc)
